Scratches on your car can be unsightly, and they take away from its true beauty. While you could take it in to an auto body repair shop and pay them to repair the damages for you at a cost, small scratches are not that difficult to fix for yourself.

To begin with, select the paint color that matches your vehicle according to the factory color code. Depending on the manufacturer, that code might be found in the owner’s manual, on the radiator core support, on the firewall, or near the VIN on the dash.

For best results, prepare the scratch by washing the surface with soap and warm water. Then, use sandpaper to gently ruff up the area to be painted. Clean the surface again to remove contaminants. Use an appropriately sized tool to brush the paint over the scratch. Deeper scratches may require a professional’s touch.
