2017 Dodge Challenger Spotlight In Salem, OR

The Dodge Challenger Hellcat is returning for the 2017 model year, powerful engine and all. While there have been quite a few clickbait sites claiming the popular muscle car will get a bump in power for the 2017 model year, there's nothing to indicate any of these claims are true. But the 2017 Dodge Challenger will hold its own against the competition without a power increase and there are quite a few reasons why we won't see more power in the 2017 Dodge Challenger Hellcat.

One of the largest indicators that put the claims of increased power to rest is the fact that no competitor can even come close to offering the substantial power of the Hellcat. The 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8 engine offers up 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. The Challenger Hellcat is entering its third year of production and no real competition has emerged from Ford or General Motors.

Creating a more powerful Challenger Hellcat would mean that the new model would devalue the 2015 and 2016 models. That includes those models under the ownership of private individuals, but it also hinders the models currently sitting on dealership lots. Since dealerships are willing to offer these monstrous machines for sticker price, creating a more powerful model would make those already-existing models obsolete.
